Steven & The Coconut Treez LIVE in Malaysia

Okay, first thing's first. I did not get to watch Steven & The CocoTreez... KILL ME, yes I know, it's another Sunburst altogether (I paid for Incubus but didn't really see them). But in a way, it didn't really kill me for missing the Indonesian reggae boys, as the day turned out to be disappointing as a whole anyway.

In terms of performances, everything was tight. Minus a few bands (*ahem*), all the performances were solid, tight and well loved. However, there were occasional technical hitches with the sound and stupid speakers... But that, I'm afraid, has to be blamed on the organizers -MOSIC WORKS- and nothing else.

I arrived at 3pm with Jarrod (the event was meant to start at 2pm), and bought our tickets, joining the mini-line of people sat against plants and walls, waiting for the doors to open. We waited. And we waited. We bought Red Bull. And we waited. Jarrod jumped when a leaf pricked the back of his neck. And we waited. We talked about  manginas and wet butts. And we waited. Frustrated that the soundcheck was taking so long, I messaged Nas of Plague.o.Happiness, asking him whether he'd checked, only to have him telling me the soundcheck was meant to be the day before. That made me go "WHAT!?" Then why were they keeping us waiting for about 3-4 hours!? Nas was pretty annoyed when he heard that sounds were being checked at that moment too, as they missed the soundcheck, having travelled down from JB only on the morning of the gig itself.

When the doors finally let us in, another thing pricked my nerves. The position of the stage. It was... a nice stage, I have to admit, but the area where the crowd was supposed to be was so... full of obstacles! There were three oval shaped rock objects, and a tree, and a fire hydrant. How on earth was the crowd supposed to feel safe in moving about!? Alongside with that, the ground was uneven, and anyone could lose their footing on the curb. Very unsatisfying results in terms of planning and organizing. Really.

So. At around 6.30pm, the stage resurrected and the first band, Maddame, opened the night. The only comment I can give on their performance?
This:

There is a reason why they were first, I suppose. They have not yet grasped the technics of putting together a song, a lot of their stuff were disjointed and very confusing. Their parts in the songs didn't flow into one another, every sounded very jagged. But there were moments when a lot of good grunge could be detected within their music, but right now, if they don't step it up, they wouldn't be called anything more than a Nirvana-wannabe. Sorry. But the last song was pretty headbangable. Another tip for Maddame: Keep your vocalist as a guitarist, but get a new vocalist. Really.

Next up, Dead Mushrooms. The crowd was still pretty dead here, which was kind of a pity as the Mushrooms had pretty tight stuff. Very tight, in fact. The speakers were seriously annoying me, suddenly the sounds would magnify and suddenly just go a lot quieter and muffled. So unbalanced. Nas and the rest of Plague.o.Happiness arrived in the middle of Dead Mushrooms' performances. LOL I kept having blur moments in recognizing faces that day. Nas was like "Celine..." and I looked up, and frowned a bit... focused my recognition, and went "OH HEY!"
Bahaha... gosh...

There was a pause after D.Mushrooms' performance, when everyone left for dinner and prayers. Jarrod and I headed to dinner, walking up some steps only to end up above the exit facing a wall... Heard a big "CELINE" followed by a call from Faiz (FortyWinks), realizing he was seated on the pavement with others across from us. I walked towards them, looked at Jarrod to talk, and turned back to realize I was walking to a random group of people who were not Faiz's group. LOL!
Faiz: *from further right* Dude, where are you going...?
Hahaha, and to make it even stupider, I didn't recognize Bijan when I saw him.
Me: ... Hi....?
Faiz: This is Bijan lah!
Me: OH! WTH! *shakes Bijan's hand* SOryyyY!!
Faiz: MAN, you're bad with faces.

Had a good laugh with Faiz and Jarrod, talking about a guy being a dick.
Me: Urgh he's such a.... dick!
Faiz: What, of course he has a dick
Me: NO, he IS a dick, not he HAS a dick!
Faiz: Wait... so he doesn't have a dick?
Me: NO!
Faiz: .... I'm confused.
Jarrod: *chuckles
hahaha, we were getting weird stares. Faiz was there as part of Bittersweet's crew, in charge of their sound arrangements. After chilling a bit, we went to grab some food (Jar and I) at some mamak. The boss pissed us off, took about ten minutes to get our order. The only nice guy serving us was amusingly forgetful, I found that really cute, hahaha he kept coming back to our table to confirm our order xD I finished my whole plate of Nasi Pattaya (which I regretted slightly later), and of course my never-to-be-missed Milo Ais. WHOOO! The milo ais tasted really nice actually, they must have used really good milk for it.

Headed back to Capsquare Mall, had a sinking feeling in my heart when I heard Love Me Butch already playing. We missed their opening!
Me: This always happen!!! (reference to Sunburst festival)
Jarrod: Garrr I know!!

Managed to catch the last bit of Stumble (Just like Sunburst!), followed by Dream of My Own, Reconcile, and Hollywood Holiday. Not bad, not bad. The crowd was stupid though, they deserved a more livelier crowd. Ngeee. Next up was the first taste of reggae for the night; Pure Vibracion. Considering that everybody was waiting with impatience for reggae to emerge, they received an enthusiastic response from the crowd. Performing about 3 songs, including all time favourite "Me Gal", Pure Vibracion was tight and well-loved, not to mention, extremely skankable. :) Joe (the vox) held out a PV flag for his last song, and was spinning round and round whoo, that was really cool!

After Pure Vibracion was reggae no.2, Redemption! However, Kolep arrived after I called him to drop by so I missed the skank session and walked out with Jarrod to meet him. WHEE Kolep. :) My teddy bear. Irrelevant.. sorry. ANYWAY, I laughed my butt off when Kolep told me Durjana Design's designer Rezza was here, because I had no idea! Kolep managed to get Rezza's crew pass and walked in without having to pay. LUCKY BASTARD WHOARGH!!! Stupid meanies, Jarrod and Kolep were both insulting my sanity :( HAHA love you both.

Went back to the crowd for Skudap Skudip! YEAH! I was so hyped when I saw Doddi (I know it's Dodd, but I like the 'i' behind!) walk onto the stage. They started off with their usual soundcheck (the one-song-long one) and bounced back right in with Mari BerdanSKA. LOVE LOVE LOVE that song. Along with it, they sang Gadis Dreadlock and Gadis Jadian. YEAY. Happy band :) Skanked like crazy, was so out of  breath by the first song. Haha!

After them was a short break, and Jarrod and I went to buy some more water (ours finished). Sat down a bit, saw Bittersweet and crew outside the doors near us. Wanted to say hi to Pijie but I didn't want to look like those groupie girls either, so I just hung back and told Jarrod of how I felt sick. Too much food and too much skanking = wanting to throw up. Remember that. Aha! Hesitated on crossing over to the mamak to buy food again because we didn't want to miss another good band. But we did anyway, and the bands hadn't even started when we walked back.
Me: *referring to the bottle* it smells like cockroach!
Jarrod: *sniffs* Yeah it does!
Me:..... I feel even worse now! *puts bottle aside*

We agreed in the end it was only the plastic that must have some funny smell. xD Bittersweet were still hanging around the steps and I nodded at their new bassist, who I seem to notice first but never really spoke with haha! Finally Herri turned from his conversing with friends and saw me sitting with Jarrod. Said hi to him, spoke a bit, with me reminding him to turn on his mic this time (hahaha, those of you at Youngsters Rock&Roll, you'd know why!). Asked him when they'd be performing, and he said "3rd last after OAG", which made me think, no can't be, because Plague said they were 4th last. This made Herri annoyed, and he started complaining about the lack of organization MOSICWorks had shown. Mentioned how their soundcheck only happened around 3.30am the previous night (something Faiz had mentioned earlier). Finally he excused himself as the whole band went into the doors to get ready.

Went back in shortly after (I saw a girl younger than a teenager that was growing dreadlocks!), and headed to the crowd for Plague of Happiness. Met Faiz again, and snapped some pictures -duh!-
Haha! Loved the story behind this picture:

Me: Sorry, I blocked you!
Faiz: Sorry I'm so short!
HAHAHA

Loved Plague of Happiness! Skanked to Lepaskan, Viva la Punk, Malam, Kawan... All great songs! :) WHEE! I was really happy to see a performance by them with good sound system, considering KAMI wasn't amazing in terms of the technical side, as most people knew. LOL Jarrod and another skank buddy in the crowd were making weird skanking movements which we all were hooking on to haha! Hilarious. There was that Egyptian like one... and then the magic fingers. HAHA.

After Plague was Bittersweet, whoohoo! They performed all-time favs like Capital E, Kucing Hitam, Burn Berlin Down, along with 2 new songs which were so danceable! Me and Jarrod were getting reluctant people to dance a bit, as we were making such fools (in a good way!) out of ourselves haha! We did the twists, and 80's dancing... everything! LOL

After Bittersweet was Dance to the Radio, which the crowd practically showed no interest in whatsoever, which was so sad, because they were great! Tight sounds, energetic and definitely danceable to. I enjoyed Disco Robot, by them, but had to leave after two songs because Jarrod wanted to head over to a club with Ija and gang. Bummer!

Called for a taxi and walked out once last time (sob). Heard a faint "Celine", turned around and saw Nas, who once again took a while to register in my mind. HAHA, I don't know what's wrong with me. Sat with him and got introduced to Moe, the photographer for ROTTW Magazine. Coolio. Nas is so.. NICE! He's like one of those people who would be friends with everybody haha... Something Jarrod and I discussed on the way home.

Said our byes to Nas and Moe, before heading further down the path to bump into Bittersweet, where this time Pijie was actually free enough to see me as I said Hi haha. Okay this part was hilarious. Last time, Herri was the blur one. This time, Pijie was. HAHA.
Pijie: Celine... hi...!
Me: Hello! *Pijie shakes hand with me, turns to Jarrod and shakes his hand*
Me: Yeah... Celine... not Jasmine!
Pijie: *remembers Ipoh and laughs* Yeah, your friend was in Ipoh and told me you said hello...
Jarrod: *points to himself* That friend is ME!
Pijie: *looks mildly confused*... OH! Sorry!... Can't recognize... *sheepish smile*

HAHAHA, oh man, that was funny. Hafiez seem to know me / not know me, so he just waved LOL, and Emai too. xD This band I tell you, is blur. SO very blur. xD So we rushed away from Pijie and gang (I still feel bad for cutting Pijie short from his questions about Singapore!) and headed to a cab that we couldn't even find LMAO. We just took a cab from across the road, who charged us only RM30 for after midnight.. very nice of the guy. Thanks Jarrod, for belanja-ing me the whole day, even though it was your birthday!

So there it was, a gig with the ups (bands) and downs (organizers, mostly).

After going home:
Nas told me DBKL came and tried to put a stop to the gig as it had exceeded the time limit (this is what you get when you start the gig 4hours late). So right after OAG, who had played as we were leaving, they had to cut out the remaining bands to put Steven & The Coconut Treez on. This meant Republic of Brickfields were not able to perform. Bloody bummer! And according to Moe, CocoTreez only played 2 songs. They must really be pissed off at us Malaysians now... but it's not us! Blame the organizers! :P Hahahaha, I'm so mean.

KAMI the Concert @ Bukit Jalil Stadium Carpark

This was meant to be the gig. Of the month. Of the whole 'Kami' chain of gigs. This was it. But maybe it was due to the way I felt when I woke up in the morning, going "Awgh, I'm not in the mood for anything" that made it seem much less than the it gig. But all in all, because of the people I was with, and the bands that played, it was still an awesome, moshable, hardcore, funky day.

Left home at around 1.30pm with Wan, and parked the car at Bangsar to take an LRT to B.Jalil. Took the wrong transit train and went towards the Ampang Line so we had to go back one station. We were worried we were heading for the wrong train, but when we noticed we were surrounded by people with skinnies and indie clothes, our worries wiped away instantaneously. Haha.

Reached Bukit Jalil LRT Station and received a big ass "CELINE" from above the staircases. Looked up to find Sam, Syamil, Wan (rocker Wan a.k.a Moshi), and other dudes waving at me, telling me to wait up. Immediately, I was plunged into a group to follow. Ah, luck always flows my way when it's coming to this. Hahaha.

They introduced me probably the youngest mosher I know, I think he's about 12? He was tagging along with all of us (I forgot his name ARGH!). Syamil and I named him Adik Pfft, because he managed to say 'Pfft', which was me and Syamil's word. HAHAHA. Kak Pfft, Bang Pfft dan Adik Pfft. XD

So anyway, after a long time of waiting for no one in particular, we headed to where the gig was held, and was thrilled to find out I was able to reach in time to watch Plague of Happiness! YES! So I did, and they were well energetic! The air was thick because it had just finished raining, so everyone felt the humidity crashing on us which explained why we didn't skank as much as we could've. The sound system was crap. The mic's were either too loud or too soft, and so were the amps. GOSH!

After Plague, I went to catch a breather before going into the crowd again for Couple and then for Laila's Lounge. I lost the whole gang by then, which really sucked coz it's so boring being in the crowd alone with no one you know. Heck, I didn't see Wan for the whole day after this! That was period was just me zipping in and out of the crowd, before finally bumping into Fad, who came as a photographer for his friend's band Jeopardice. Went back to Durjana's booth, where I finally got some time to spend with Azam and waited for Moshi, Sam and all to turn up again. Found them, and Syamil asked who was playing and I went "They Will Kill Us All". But I had said it while pulling up my bra, so he was like, "Oh, *pulls his shirt like pulling his nipples* They will kill us all, lah?" HAHAH Retard. By the end of the night, that was the "Syamil and Celine" thing. He would sing "Wait a Minute" and do that. And I would be like "Hi Syamil" while pulling my shirt. Hilarious. xD

Anyway, went to buy some drinks with Kolep and Azam, then headed into the crowd with Syamil, Moshi and Sam, to skank to The Aggrobeats. Waited for Koffin Kanser to start so Moshi, Sam, Syamil and I could mosh. When they played, wow the crowd was crazyyyyy. Moshi was not convinced that I could mosh, so Sam did the - annoying - honors of pulling me back every time I tried to mosh. Finally, I was like, STOP PULLING ME BACK, and he laughed, getting the message. He then pushed me out into the mosh circle when I least expected it so by the time I could duck my head down to mosh, I received one punch under my left eye by some random dude. I didn't even realize I was punched, but I just went up to him, giving him the "Wanna fight?" look, and everyone thought I was for real! HAHAHA, but guys, honestly that was just my drama student side in action :) I meant it as a joke! People were pulling me back, and going "It's just for fun, it's just for fun!" and I'm like "I KNOW ARGH!". Then I had about 20 seconds of fame because people were shaking my hand, patting my shoulder, rubbing my head in respect coz they couldn't believe I was a girl. Hah, in yo faces! After the mosh, Moshi and Sam collapsed in leg cramps, which I found particularly amusing, and had to spend 5 minutes convincing Moshi that I was joking when I looked so angry. Finally he got the message and was lyk "Oh... I LIKE YOU MAN! HAHA, next time it'll be me punching your eye, okay?" Hahaha, stupid. I retaliated and said "No, you don't need to, you mosh with a stupid towel that slaps everyone in the face, I think that's enough..."

Anyway, went to get some ice for Moshi's leg and my eye, and chilled for the longest time. Didn't go back in the crowd until night time. Just sat around, buying drinks, talking, lying on the floor, talking, singing, talking, taking pictures, yeah you get the point. :)
Had a personal talk with Sam, of which we spent our time talking about his ex who had passed away, and family issues, personal issues, and whatnot. It was a real KAMI moment, especially when we quoted their slogan. "Hidup ini memang palat, tapi esok masih ada."
Moshi and Sam had masks to wear for 'mosh protection'. LMAO kinda cool masks actually, but I wouldn't wear those, though Moshi had suggested me wearing one. But I just might, so I can mosh freely without worrying people will think I'm a girl or worrying about getting hit smack middle in the face hahaha!

Went in for a while with Azam and Kolep for Pop Shuvit's Mara Bahaya, got bored, came back out, went back in for One Buck Short, Syamil and I got bored, so we went back out. HAHAHA. Didn't mosh to Bittersweet, because I did last Saturday and since Moshi wasn't a fan of theirs, I didn't mind sitting out. Lay on the ground which was when I had a nice chat with Sam. Whoo.

It was then that Haziq (my best mate, Fiona's boyfriend) messages me to say he's in the area, so I went to meet him at Durjana. Went back to find Syamil and gang and saw them shaking hands with the boy I met in the crowds during Kami Raya at Central Market, Arul. GOSH it's like everybody knows everybody! That's when I officially befriended him and kept in contact after. HAHA.

Rushed out of the venue to the LRT station to get tickets before the stations shut down. 11.30pm was the time, by then. Chilled waiting for no one in particular again. They did that a lot. Even when I had gone back home, and SMSed Sam, he was like "We're waiting for no one in particular again". HAHAHA

All in all, good gig which gave me a good way of letting me remember it! (Stupid bruise...) The highlights of the gig wasn't really about the bands, but really about the people I was with, which I guess does celebrate what KAMI is all about, doesn't it?

Celine wishes the day never ended.

Gig Hopping!: Kami Raya @ C.M & Youngsters Rock n Roll @ MCPA!

11th October. Two gigs. One heck of a good time. :)

After a chillout at Deepti's place, I took an LRT from Bangsar and went straight to Pasar Seni where I followed the music to where the stage was. Found Kolep and gang setting up the Durjana booth beneath the tents, and helped them for a while. Monisha, supposedly supposed to accompany me, decides to bail out because of her parents' disapproval, which only left Trett to come along and witness the KL gigs for the first time in his life. And oh boy, did he not regret it! :)

Missed out on Couple's performance, which was stupid. But I did manage to snap a few faraway-cannot-see-a-thing pictures. I found Aidil and went O.T.T on it, which just got him laughing. Followed by Couple's performance was Love Me Butch, which I COULD NOT MOSH TO because I was waiting for Trett to arrive so someone could accompany me into the moshpit. GOSH Trett! Chilled with Kolep and sang along to LMB from where we stood, and bumped into the three girls I had met at MCPA during Escape The Flock. Exchanged numbers with one of them, hee. So Trett arrives to the sound of The Aggrobeats, who made me want to get up on one of the parked cars and skank above it. :D Kolep was really friendly to Trett (aww!) who was feeling slightly awkward. Why? He's the only white guy. He's tall, so he can't hide. So he's like SO obvious. But EVERYONE kept asking if we were siblings or cousins... WHYYY!? In the crowds, by the booths, in MCPA, the bands we chilled with... WHYY?!

Followed by the Aggrobeats was The Times! Absolutely awesome performance by them. I went into the crowd with Trett and Nad. Trett got into the groove so quickly, and we were both moshing senseless. Poor Nad was so unprotected, but she soon found her knight in shining armor - some guy in a songkok who stood behind her the whole time protecting her from getting trampled on. Aww. XD
Me: Siape tu?
Nad: I pon tatau!
Me: BAHHAHHAHA

The Times performed awesome tunes, but I kind of forgot what they were? I was too lightheaded to remember... Woah...
After the exhausting workout - LOL - we went into CM to grab some drinks at the foodcourt. Grace calls and says she was going to head to CM once she's settled at the hotel. And Faiz FortyWinks calls to say he's already at CM and ready to talk about the gig at Singapore. So yeah, that was artist #1 that I chilled with that day. It was a really funny chillout session though, we kept getting distracted by everything. AND he thought Trett was my brother.
Faiz: So, about the bus ticket just let me know...
Me: Okay... Ooh, I like this song!!! *cocks my head towards the speakers* (Aliff Aziz's Sayang2 was playing)
Faiz:... You've got A.D.D man.
Me: WHAT!?
Faiz: Yeah... you get distracted easily... bahahaha hey it's a cool thing to have.

It was a pity Grace didn't arrive in time to chat with him about the gig. Oh well, he told me I already settled everything they needed to know anyway. :) And he was so touched by the fact that I was listening to Forty Winks while doing my homework.
Faiz: It's so.... educational!
Me: What the hell!?
Faiz: Yeah, doesn't really make sense.

Oh did I mention Nad was all torn up when she found out Trett was 3 years her junior? HAHHAHHA. :P
Walked out of CM to find Meet Uncle Hussain already performing! I almost screamed in shock, and dashed towards to booth to dump our wallets to Kolep, and ran to the crowd, jumping to "Halusinasi" at the same time. Lan, why don't you play the guitar anymore?
Moshed like CRAZY. Made friends with one guy - Arul - in the audience.
*MUH finishes a song*
Me: Milk in a bottleee!!
Arul: Milk in a bottleee!!
*turn to each other*: Ehhhh, cool duude, you pun tau lagu tu!
He, too, thought Trett was my brother. What the... ANYWAY. Meet Uncle Hussain played "Halusinasi", followed by "Pari-pari", "Balik Kampong" (yes, the old classic), and "Lagu Untukmu". When we sat down for the pause because Lan needed to pee or something like that, I realized we'd missed Lalala Kerjalah. DAMN IT. Trett really liked M.U.H. Whoo!

After MUH, Bittersweet were next, and holy hell, they were good. They. Were. Good. They performed... wait let me register it in my head first... they performed "Burn Berlin Down", "Kucing Hitam", "Capital E" and ... some other song, holy crap I forgot. I think it was a song we didn't know. Some raya song I think. We walked out on that one, because Grace had arrived. I went to meet up with her and suggested her to speak to Pijie Bittersweet. Went to find him (artist #2!), only to get him telling me to head over to MCPA because they were performing there, too. Sigh. So Trett and I went to grab some drinks with Grace and Francis, and Francis followed us to MCPA to catch the next gig. Awesome shit, man.

We walked in and the new bassist of Bittersweet - didn't catch his name! - told us Pijie was upstairs. Went upstairs, and Pijie said we'll talk after the show. So we enter the hall and are greeted by Deserters playing. They were goood. When we went to grab some drinks after They Will Kill Us All, whom we MOSHED LIKE CRAZY TO!, Trett and I bought ourselves the Deserters CD. Cooool... David from TWKUA was so pissed off at his guitar issues when setting up he swore so many times it was funny. I loved the bit when Fizul was singing "But I don't know youuu!" and like bent down until our faces were quite close and I sang along in such a hyper way he went back up laughing. Hahaha.

Went back upstairs and chilled, watching Bittersweet set up was probably the funniest thing ever. They were all half dead. Herri looked as though he was completely clueless to whatever was going on. When they were about to start, he puts up his hand and says there's no sound coming from his mic. The technicians all checked and found nothing wrong..... until someone came up to the mic and switched it on. LMAO! Everyone burst out laughing like crazy. That was an awesome moment, right there. Trett was thrilled to watch B.sweet for a second time, and damn he could not stop moshing. I placed my water bottle under the steps in front of the stage, which later on when I took them out, two mates of Pijie beside me were like "Oh my god! Effective!" as if what I did was completely ingenious. Hahaha.
Bittersweet performed "Burn Berlin Down", "Simone", "Capital E", "Get It On" and "Kuching Hitam". Pijie was so limp, he was falling all over the place, and when he jumped into the crowd he seemed to lose all balance and control of his muscles. Woah... crazy, crazy, crazy performances!

Later on, Azam tells me he had no idea my moshing was so fierce. He was there at MCPA (I couldn't meet him at CM because I was in the crowds with Trett - he's leaving the next day, so I felt like I should show him as much of the gigs as possible) and was shocked when he saw me turn up. So while Francis discusses things with Bittersweet's manager/friend, I was in the hall having a blast. Man, I should organize gigs more often. :D

After Bittersweet, we walked down to get another bottle of water, and were almost falling down the stairs. OH MY GOD THAT REMINDS ME! I kept falling UP the stairs! ARGH! Trett was tormenting me with the memory every now and then. I tripped up the stairs walking out of the monorail station, and twice I tripped going up to the hall at MCPA. It was my shoe, Trett, NOT me. xD

Bumped into Amir TWKUA (Artist #3!!!) who was surprised to see me at MCPA (I could never make it to a lot of TWKUA gigs), and we had a cool lepak, with him telling me the lack of response from their Myspace was not ignorance but merely due to busy times. So the good news is they might make it on the Singapore band list! WHOO! Oh, he thought Trett was my cousin. -_- Went back up to the hall to check out The Great Spy Experiment (a singaporean guest band) and Amir intro-ed me to the rest of TWKUA. Went into the crowd to dance to GSE, the crowd was dead, went back to the side of the stage where Amir was.
Me: You like them?
Amir: Oh yeah, they're mad. They are way better than us.
Me: You can't compare! You guys are different! Different sound, different awesome!
Amir: True... :D

Heehee. I gain good karma for that. LMAO.

So what do I think of GSE? They are GOOD, that's definite, but I found some of their tunes very mainstream. And the vocalist's voice didn't really make a presence, unlike Fizul TWKUA, who was... THERE. Oh wait, I'm not supposed to compare. :P

ANYWAY, I find Pijie saying bye to everyone, and he pulls me into the room behind the stage to discuss on what Francis was saying due to continuous 'huh's because we couldn't hear each other. Loud music + half deaf = pointless conversation.
Pijie: (after all discussion) Okay... oh i check your myspace... you memang 15 years old ke!?
Me: 16! My birthday just passed!
Pijie: Whatttt!
Herri: *walks in* Hello, nice to meet you... sorry my voice dah hilang la...
Me: It's okay...
Pijie: She's 15
Me: 16!
Herri: Yeah ke? Wow, tak cam... 15?
Me: 16!!!!!! BAHH!!!

Walk out to where Trett was stood, and we decide to leave a few songs before GSE calls it a night. So we grabbed our stuff... well, MY stuff, and exited the hall. Decided to stop at the mamak outside MCPA first, and ordered milo ais. Trett was amazed, impressed, awed by this side of KL he has never seen. It was a whole new culture for him, and was so pissed that Australia never have mini gigs like these. Well, like I said, you don't need to get drunk and kiss random girls to have fun :) HAHA, he agreed though. And we made a pact to go to a gig every time he comes back to KL.

As we sat at the mamak, Herri and B.Sweet went to another table, and Herri started talking to me (he thought I was Singaporean, ew) so they shifted to chill with us on our table. Then Emai and gang joins along with Pijie, who plops comfortably beside me, only to get me to steal his infamous shades. He thought Trett and I were related. xD Surprise, surprise.
Pijie: So you guys are... cousins? Siblings?
Me: He's my brother.
Pijie: Oh!
Me: No la, kawan je.
Pijie:...what... OH! Eh, you guys are mixed, that's why you look alike!
Me: *turns to Trett* aww, abang!
Trett: Hey I know what that means! See, I'm catching up!
Me: Yeah...what words DO you know? Tapi... Abang... milo ais... dua..
Trett: Tiga!
Me: Wow.
Herri, Emai & Pijie (they were the only ones listening to us blab): LOL!
Trett: Well, next time I'll be able to speak more Malay!
Me: Yeah, what, recite lyrics from the albums? *puts on Pijie's shades again & recites Kucing Hitam*
Pijie: LOL
Me: *turns to him* Your shades senget sikit la.
Pijie: I know...

Do you realize Pijie looks like he's grining 24/7? Even Trett mentioned it! He was like "That guy's such a rockstar... with those grins that's are constantly on his face!"
Herri was so damn sweet when he placed 4-5 Bittersweet CD's on the table for me to have and give to friends. So damn sweet. Trett was so pleased to get another CD in his new Malaysian music collection, LMAO. Oh, by the way, HAHA TRETT YOU ALMOST SPILLED YOUR MILO AIS THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR LAUGHING WHEN I TRIPPED! Oh, and I hope I didn't make it that obvious that I'm not a big OBS fan...
Pijie: One Buck Short ade pergi Singapore jugak ke?
Me: Errrrr..... no....
Herri: *looks at my expression*... why?
Me: Coz...?
HAHAHA then I went into a rant about mainstream people who have so many people who know them already and I want the indie, indie, bands. Wait, I actually said that because Herri mentioned something about them not being signed by EMI, and I was like "I wouldn't have invited you guys if you guys were signed by EMI, because I'm looking for indie, indie bands!"
Pijie was like "Aha... :)"

Finally, we left the table and walked up the stairs to the overhead bridge to cross the road, and I swore, realizing we could've just taken the stairs that led to the monorail station. So we walk back down and walked towards the other stairs. I froze. Turned to Trett. "We didn't pay for our drinks dude." We just burst out laughing and spent 2 minutes debating on whether we should just SMS Pijie and get him to pay (rude la!) or if we should turn back. We turned back hahaha, and made complete fools of ourselves. Walked back to the mamak and the guys from our table were like '???' and I go "We forgot to pay". Everyone started laughing and Trett was like "God, that was embarrassing!"

Walked up to the stairs of the monorail station - realize its CLOSED, so we walked down again to catch a cab. Dude, just picture it. Whole day of moshing. Toes stepped on, leg muscles screaming, and we had to walk up so many steps! ARGH it was so annoying. Luckily we got ourselves a really nice taxi driver who only charged us RM30 to send us to Bangsar and Mont Kiara. Laughed when Trett walks out of the taxi, goes to the sidewalk and trips. Last thing I see of him is his 'shut up' face and a middle finger. HAHAHA!

The day was fantabuloussssss.

Stuck in Celine's memory :]

OAG Merdayka Gig

With the sudden downpour of KL rain, you'd expect KL Tower to be left cooling and cloudy, perfect weather for the gig if you're going clad in a hoodie and jeans. How very wrong I was. The moment we stepped out of the car, Ija and I, I knew I was in for a sweat-dunk. With Ija continuously complaining about his eyes needing shades, we climbed up the steep hill towards KL Tower, where the OAG Merdayka Gig was held. Being about two hours late, I met up with my two Myspace friends, Azam and Nad (who knew me through Kolep), as they waited for me above the escalator (my, my I felt like a Queen! :] )
Walking along the numerous stalls set up by all the Angkatan Baju Malaya gangs, to name a few like Dadu, Durjana, BlackSheepClothing, and lots more, we went to seek for the two brothers Kolep and Kodyp at the Durjana stall, where we settled while waiting for the good bands to start the day, and also where Ija bought me a Couple t-shirt. On the stage as we entered was Soundgardens, playing an Alice in Chains cover, with great music, but... a 'satisfactory' vocalist to wrap it all up. Followed on by the were The DeadMushrooms; the commentor tried (and failed) to make everybody laugh by saying "The Deadmushroomsoup! -_- I almost choked on the Nad's 100Plus in disgust.

I realized by the end of the day, that I was a HORRIBLE blogger this time, as I had completely forgotten to take pictures and videos of any other bands except OAG, but that can be forgiven as the gig IS a gig for OAG anyway... :) right?

So. Just as I was telling Nad and Azam how I don't really have a soft spot for Bunkface, unlike the hundreds of other girls there, Bunkface stepped onto the stage, and before I knew it, Nad and Azam had dragged me into the midst of cheering and frantic fans. Oh god, I tell you, I was so out of place. They started playing, and I didn't even feel any single excitement bubbling inside me to even try to pogo. No. I remember complaining about those idiotic girls who just stood at gigs and didn't do anything. I felt like them. But unlike them, I actually didn't want to be there, I was only there to stop people from crushing all over tiny Nad. HAHAHA. Not only was Bunkface unappealing to me, I ended up losing my favourite white shades after their performance, which only made my dislike towards them increase. ALSO, some dude in orange was totally trying his best to feel me and Nad up, and I stared him down with such vigilance he was out of the place before Ija could reach him to do anything about it. HAHA.

Next up, with a rush through my adrenaline to realize I was about five seconds late to welcome them, was Couple! :) I ran into the crowd as they played the first tunes to "Gonna Be My Gurl", along with Ija this time, as he was a fan of Couple, and also to protect Nad and I. Couple were of course, undoubtedly fabulous, energetic and gave everybody in the crowds a real reason to push forward the barriers separating us from the stage. After the first song, they gave us an all time favourite "Rock N' Roll" along with "Tentang Kita", a Malay choice to celebrate the independence of Malaysia. A tight, enjoyable performance full of sing-alongs and moshing. Loved it.

The commentor ruined it by saying "Give it up for Bunkface!"... -_- COUPLE GODDAMIT!

SkudapSkudip was next! Hell yeah! This time Azam and Nad decided to take a break while I went into the crowds with Kolep and that guy with the afro... I always forget to ask for his name! Grr.

Skudap/dip's "soundcheck" was enough to drive everyone crazy, and when they bounced in with the jovial "Mari Berdanska"... phoo, you could see people skanking here and there and everywhere! Great, great sounds filled with crescendos and buildups every now and then from the trumpets. Loved them! Then they played another tune followed by an encore "The big, big blue monkey!" that sent everyone sailing to the skies. Ecstatic performance, they were definitely not a disappointment. Pity I didn't have any recordings of their performance [I was too busy dancing with people!]

The commentor once again made a fool of himself by saying "Itulah Skudip Skudap!"
Skudip Skudap? What is it, opposite day? -_- SO not impressed.

Took a break as Azam, Nad and I went to get some drinks - Azam, being a guy, got me to belanja him PSHT some guy... - while I treated Nad and myself to ice cream, YUM! The man at the ice cream stall reminded me not to drink my water too quickly, which I thought was very nice of him. I was soaked and drenched in sweat, my heart thudding a million to one, and it would've been a great risk if I gulped down the whole of my bottle at once! Complained about Bittersweet not being able to perform at KL Tower on the way back to the stage, and suddenly we froze to our places at the sound of "Generasiku" by OAG already starting. Horrified that I was about to miss the song, I ran to the audience, only to realize I couldn't do much anyway considering I had an icecream to finish. Drats. So we stood there, Azam and I, head bobbing to Generasiku, singing along (whenever my mouth wasn't stuffed with chocolate cream).
"Generasiku, bersinar mm mmm mm mmm mm!"
Hehehe.
I couldn't really see what Radhi was wearing from afar and when Azam used my camera to take a zoomed in shot, I almost dropped my ice cream from laughing. Radhi was equivalent to an asian Kenny from Southpark.
Right!?
After the first song, Radhi indulged into a long, moving speech on independence (and indie-pendence) and performed a great live performance of "Akustatik". Soothing and a great sing-along song, it melted everybody's hearts even to the extent that no one seemed to bother when Feezul (or was it Nizam) played a wrong chord for a while. But Azam and I had looked at each other and went "Ohhhh, salah chord!" hahahah!

OAG then went straight into 60's TV, with Radhi brandishing his shoe up for everybody to see, asking if they wanted it. Then talking about completely off-the-topic things about the shoe before saying "Ah, tak boleh la, ini kasut mahal tau. Ini sponsor tau." LOLZ. Funny man.
60's TV! Got us all jumping up and down, singing at the top of our lungs. Loved, loved, loved it. I can say with no doubt that this was my favourite song they performed that day. Following on, was OAG's Merdeka song which I have no idea what the title is, but it was really great, everybody was singing along, and punching the air as we shouted "Merdeka" in tune to the singing. Amazing stuff, OAG was definitely the band of the day, along with Skudap Skudip who later on joined them on the stage to brandish the Malaysian flags while everybody shouted "Merdeka!" in unison.

A great show overall, and it ended with us leaving to lepak at some mamak, which was ultimately delayed by Ija going to see Radhi to say hi, followed by me being halted by Eric as he recognized my face, and asked about the Singapore gig which I had requested for OAG to perform as well. Straight after, we realized we had lost the parking ticket, but were blessed by a wonderful guard who allowed us to pay RM15 instead of RM50. :) God bless you, encik.

Waited for AGES for Ija to return from the ATM machine, and sat on the steps of Low Yat Plaza humming to songs we played on our phones, and taking pictures. Had a particularly interesting conversation with Nad about the whole Chinese/Malay controversy, which she surprisingly understood, as she lived in Sabah and had lots of chinese friends, some of them reluctant to mix with her, while some were more open to other races.
"Chinese mothers are scary" said she, "They're usually the ones who tell their children to beware of Malays, hahaha!"
Couldn't agree more! xD
Went to Kitaro behind Sungai Wang with Azam, Nad to meet up with Ija, who had apparently looked here and there for us, as he had forgotten where he placed us. His memory... gosh! Talked to Ija about business plans and left before Azam and Nad came back from Sungai Wang as my mom was rushing me by then. Ija stopped by a shades stall and got himself and me new shades, haha!

A great night, with lots of laughs, smiles and amazing live music! :)

With lots of smiles from the memory, Celine will end here! :)
