MxPx LIVE in KL @ One Cafe, Jln TAR

Knowing you're going to be seeing one the best punk bands, MxPx that very evening and a member of another kickass punk band The Ataris as well (for me, the second time!), you're bound to be jumping around with energy from the moment you wake up. But sadly, as evening crept up, I was drained into a lousy mood, which got even lousier when I headed to One Cafe and found the atmosphere extremely.... dull. SAW ADYB! After like what, ages?

Arrived late with Moe, and missed the first act, Oh Chentaku, but that's alright, I don't listen to them a lot anyway. Thinking the next band was Hello Is This The Band, we chilled with Moshi, Amirul and Apit, and I ordered my teh o suam only to find Dichi Michi playing. GWAR, ran in, and danced and headbanged to their tunes. I love the keyboards! Weewargh! One Cafe's uncanny mood swings with technical problems hitched up a notch today, giving us an amazing volume of keyboards and vocals, unlike previous gigs I've spent straining to hear the keyboards or vocals.

Went back out, said bye to Moe, and walked into the crowds to listen to Hello Is This the Band. One question: WHY PLAY COVERS?? You're your own band, play your own songs laaaa. Aiyo. But forget that, we took pictures with my damn-hot-idol, Mike Herrera! God, I swear, it was orgasmic, despite my pokerface of not really caring. xD

Then we got bored, so we took more pictures.

Went out, had a break (we had millions of breaks that day) went back in for Skunkfix, but they finished their set just as we walked in - sorry, I was eating man! - so we were in time for One Buck Short.

Went back out, had drinks, thought it was time for Pee Wee Gaskins, rushed in, and found out it was frigging MXPX setting up! Dashed towards the front, and waited for them to start up the show. The punk rock show! :P Blasting with an intro of Hey Ho - Let's Go!, MxPx granted us a solid set over an hour of short boosters of punk songs. Mike Herrera knew just how to win the audience's hearts by repeating over and over how much he loves Malaysia. This is what a Punk Rock Show is all about- You sweat, and you leave all your fucking problems at home, and fucking enjoy!

Thanks dude, I needed that. :) And nothing gets better than having Kris The Ataris being part of the band. Putting MxPx on a pause, they plunged through a couple of The Ataris songs like
Int This Diary
and Your Boyfriend Sucks. Hell, nothing's better than being able to catch The Ataris again! (Caught them a little bit in Sonisphere Festival, UK)

They ended with a powerbooster of Punk Rock Show, leaving the crowds breathless and sweaty to the limit as they walked out to the cafe, waiting for Pee Wee Gaskins to end the night. Went to freshen up a bit, we sat on our table for a while, and I made some new friends from Singapore, and they are cool . Hopefully I've got a new group to chill with in Singapore! Woohoo!

Pee Wee Gaskins! A band from Indonesia, they sounded similar to Dichi Michi, and they drove the crowds (the only ones with enough energy to watch) wild. Terharuuu wey, when Dochi spoke into the mic "Celine, right?". Muahahah! :P Perasan. They played the crowd favourites all the way, providing us with over half an hour of pure Indonesian energy. Come back again, you'll be well loved.

Ended the night with a chilled out session waiting for Moe to come and pick me up, and lots of camwhoring :P

Celine wouldn't mind a taste of Punk-rock once in a while!
